After watching this trailer, I bet you have thought about everything you threw in a trash can today………..haven’t you?
I first heard about People Tree when reading a Fashion Magazine called Women’s Wear Daily. The article was talking about how the famous actress, Emma Watson, was designing a line for the sustainable, fair trade clothing line. I’ve always been interested in alternative clothing brands; fashion companies that produce a great clothing line but also give back to people and who are also very socially conscious.
I became aware of the program Aid to Artisans, by a speaker that came to speak at my my school back in New York. she had started out in the fashion industry and heard about this program starting up that would help artisans in thrid world countries build their business and be able to outsource their products to major brands, so that their products could be sold in places like Pottery Barn and Pier 1 Imports.
When deciding on an effective bumper sticker the only ones I could think of were hippie inspired stickers like the peace sign, the yellow happy face, or the Grateful Dead bears (a 1960’s rock band).
Hello!! My name is Elizabeth Carlisle and I’m from Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Currently I live in Astoria, Queens and attend LIM College in Manhattan. I am a Fashion Merchandising Major and hope to have a career in either Product Developement or working with fashion brands to help build their social media network and raise awareness for social causes. I chose to be in the fashion industry because I love how it interprets art and social culture. I love how it is always changing and can let a person express their individuality through what they wear and how they choose to wear it.
I am really interested in Films; foreign films in particular. Being abroad I love the spanish film L’appartamento Spagnolo about this group of flatmates from different parts of Europe and how they all communicate with eachother.
